Ei...the language barrier is one of the main issues. Either you have to have a chinese in Sweden - where e.g. we have a few with real work permits - or you have to ensure solid english PMs in China.

Both works and can also fail and key is regular ongoing communications and occasionally meet, e.g. the European PM needs to go to China every now and then and vice versa.

In many cases, engineers can end-end communicate in written english and that's often enough if the PM comms is solid.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11929314887253194297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7459745710145135516.post-40972260624715433052012-10-25T18:33:26.448+02:002012-10-25T18:33:26.448+02:00It is a model I hear ZTE/Huawei is using when doin...It is a model I hear ZTE/Huawei is using when doing work in Germany. In that case the PM is still Chinese (with good English skills to interface with the team in China). But it falls down at some point.

E.g. the PM in Germany is Chinese and due issues with getting proper Visas they need to change the PM during the project. Obviously switching the PM does not come without a loss. I don't know if they can't or don't want to find a German (with Chinese skills) to be PM in Germany.

How do you overcome the language barrier? The local/remote PM communicate in English/Swedish and then the remote PM translates it to the local language? Or do you assume one can communicate English end-to-end?zeckehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17999909772607256667noreply@blogger.com
